| Margate's in the 21st century. The seafront give way to surf boards and wind surfers where in the past in was rubber rings and plastic sun beds. A long way from the distant Victorian bathing machines once graced the waters edge. The seafront now hosts amusement arcades and night clubs pounding to the sound of modern music. The long soft sandy beaches still have much to offer the visitor. Donkey ride, sea food stalls, and the laid back feeling of a seaside town still prevail. The Old Town and its ancient history still have much to offer and of course there is those warm summer evening watching the sun recede below the horizon |

Margate began as a fishing town supplying local farmlands then over the years with the introduction of the industrial age and the victorians desire for play and relaxation the sunbathing machines appeared and the resort became one of the most popular along the south coast. Margate was the first resort to have donkey rides and deck chairs. It is still today one of the most popular of seaside resorts for those not wishing to go abroad for their holidays. It still has a lot to offer both visitors and residents alike. |
